The historic town center of Bad Hofgastein, with its festively illuminated pedestrian zone, provides a unique backdrop for atmospheric Advent markets. Tradition and variety are guaranteed by local folk-music groups, wind musicians and Nativity plays. Experience Gastein’s unique Krampus parades, along with boundless romance and an idyllic atmosphere – perhaps taking a sleigh ride or a torchlight hike through the snowy Kurpark.

Böckstein Christmas Market on 8 December 2017
• 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Advent Singing at Böckstein Pilgrimage Church “Maria vom guten Rat”
• Carriage rides with Father Christmas
• Christmas wind music
• Home-baked cookies, “sour cheese”, farmhouse bread, fruit bread, roasted chestnuts
• All from the Gastein Valley. And magical candles.

From arts & crafts to regional products and Christmas decorations – lots of stands, as well as a supervised Christmas Workshop for children, all just waiting for you.

Village Advent Calendar
24 Dorfgastein families and businesses have once again agreed to deck out their house windows for Christmas. And as is the custom during Advent, every day just one new window will be opened. Visitors can admire all of the windows until 6 January.

Festive Advent market in the Dorfgastein village park
Traditional Advent market with carollers, family folk musicians, wind music and sleigh rides. Wonderful regional products and crafts can be purchased at the market stands. And a Nativity play will be performed in the Festsaal.
Dates: 09 December 2017 from 12 p.m.
Advent Singing at Dorfgastein Parish Church
The music of Advent accompanies the mass on 20 December 2017, as does a concert by the local church choir. And if time allows, the “Anklöckler” will also stop by: In a reflective atmosphere, with candles lit in the church, they symbolise Joseph and Mary’s search for shelter and Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem.
Grossarl (ca. 45-minute drive from Gastein)
During the time just before Christmas, a unique atmosphere welcomes you to Grossarl. The Advent market in this magnificent mountain region captivates guests with its tradition and variety. At the elaborately decorated market stands, you will be greeted by all kinds of delectable treats and Christmas specialities.
A diverse Advent programme features numerous attractions, especially for the youngsters. And of course, there will be no shortage of wonderful Christmas decorations, as well as arts & crafts from across Salzburger Land.
