The beautiful surroundings of the Gasdteinertal valley with its snow-covered nature invite you to enjoy wonderful winter hikes. Enjoy the impressive mountain scenery of the Hohe Tauern. And experience winter from its gentler side. Over 100 km of perfectly groomed winter hiking trails invite you to take winter walks. And along the routes there are numerous rustic inns that will spoil you with delicious Salzburg cuisine specialties.
Snowshoeing
Snowshoeing is an ideal alternative to skiing for anyone looking for the tranquillity of nature. Hiking with snowshoes has been the only way to get around in deep snow for centuries.
Once a week, our hiking guide Christian will take you on a wonderful snowshoe hike in the snow-covered winter landscape around DAS.GOLDBERG.
Guided tours are also offered in the Hohe Tauern National Park, the largest protected area in the Alps, and in the Anger Valley. And the new snowshoe trail in Dorfgastein, which leads from the Fulseck to the middle station, guarantees unforgettable moments with breathtaking views: over the Gastein Valley.
Tobogganing
On sleek, winding, perfectly groomed toboggan runs: It’s not just children who love tobogganing in winter!
Bad Gastein:
Natural toboggan run Bellevue-Alm, length 2.5 km, floodlit.
Ascent with the Bellevue-Alm chairlift, also possible in the evening, open from 4 p.m. to midnight
As a special highlight, the 150-year-old Bellevue Alm offers an open fireplace and cozy fondue evenings.
Bad Hofgastein:
Aeroplan natural toboggan run: Length 3.3 km. Start: Aeroplanstadl, finish: Haitzing (Reiterhof). Ascent with the Schlossalmbahn to the Kitzstein middle station,
then a 20-minute walk to the Aeroplanstadl
Open daily until 16.00 hrs.
Dorfgastein:
Strohlehenalm natural toboggan run: length approx. 2 km, all-day use, floodlit several times a week in the evening.
Refreshments available at the Strohlehenalm after a leisurely hike (approx. 1 hour) or on a horse-drawn sleigh.

Ice climbing
The fascination of ice: a challenge. Adventure. Adrenaline. In an unforgettable setting. The Gastein Valley offers ice climbers, whether beginners or experts, numerous routes of varying degrees of difficulty in the Goldberg or Ankogel group. Under the guidance of experienced Austrian mountain and climbing guides, you can explore the fascinating world of icefalls. For beginners, a 3-hour ice climbing course is offered in the center of Bad Gastein from mid-December to mid-February.

Flying Waters
Float over the world-famous Gastein waterfall. And experience Bad Gastein’s nature and architecture from a bird’s eye view. Spectacular.
“Flying Waters” is the name given to the breathtaking ride on pulleys on a wire rope – suspended high above the gorge of the Gasteiner Ache.
What sounds so dangerous is actually risk-free adventure fun for the whole family thanks to the perfect safety equipment provided by professionals. The 300-meter-long route leads from Villa Solitude to the thermal spring park. The ride offers magnificent views of the historic town center, the waterfall path and Grabenbäckersteig trail with yoga platform, as well as the fascinating mountain world of the Hohe Tauern.
