Sustainable hotel in Austria. Our Green Concept at DAS.GOLDBERG

NATURE MATTERS.
MORE THAN EVER.

Sustainable hotel in Austria. Our Green Concept at DAS.GOLDBERG

Sustainability is not a project for us. But an attitude.
Especially in these times.

It starts small – and runs through everything we do.
From the conscious use of energy. To the use of regional materials.
To a cuisine that focuses on originality. And on values that last.

Because nature is our elixir of life.
The foundation of our being.
And it demands absolute loyalty – especially here, in our alpine heights.

It gives us an incredible treasure every day.
A wealth of gifts. In every dimension.
And helps to maintain a sensitive, but still functioning cycle.

But this very treasure is also a mission.
An appeal to us to take responsibility.
And to act mindfully – with every decision, in every detail.
With consistency. And with conviction.

Give. And taking.
That is our maxim.
After all, everyone involved can only benefit if they work together in harmony.

As a sustainable hotel in Austria, a nature hotel in the Salzburg region and a green hotel in Austria, we feel deeply committed to this principle.
Because our actions shape what remains.

In harmony with our environment.
Out of respect for nature.
And for a future that is worth its weight in gold.

For now. For tomorrow.«

FOR NATURE WE CARE

An excerpt of our measures.

FOR NATURE WE CARE
  • REGIONAL CUISINE. AND ORIGIN.

In our kitchen, predominantly regional products are processed into culinary highlights.
We use meat and fish from Austria, local fruits and vegetables – fresh, seasonal and honest.
In addition, eggs from the Schmaranz organic farm and cheese from the alpine pastures in the valley.
And from our own garden we harvest herbs that are incomparable in taste.

The result is dishes that are honest, fresh and deeply rooted in our region – an expression of our philosophy of sustainable cuisine in the Salzburg region.
Because with us, the genuine meets the good.
    And enjoyment becomes an attitude.

  • Short distances. Direct contacts.

    Short distances. And direct contacts.
This is how we guarantee freshness, quality and transparency – and help to strengthen the value creation in our home.

  • HOMEMADE. FROM TRADITION.

Simply good out of tradition: As has been the case for generations, we process regional products from the Salzburg region into culinary masterpieces according to old recipes.

Whether jams, liqueurs and syrups made from fruit and herbs from our garden,
homemade bread made from ancient grain from a mill in the Salzburg region,
Fairtrade coffee beans that we refine in our own roastery,
    or our homemade bacon.
Each product tells a story. Of origin. Of craftsmanship. And of appreciation.
The processing of these products is an inspiration for us. And dedication.
An expression of our philosophy of sustainable cuisine in the Salzburg region –
where tradition and enjoyment meet in their most honest form.

  • Geothermal energy.

We generate our own energy from geothermal energy to heat and cool the house and our water worlds.
For this purpose, around 7,000 meters were drilled into the depths on our site – a system that makes us independent and efficient.
In winter, it provides the entire house and our pools with soothing warmth.
In summer, it becomes a low-energy cooling system and ensures a pleasantly fresh indoor climate – without conventional air conditioning.

  • Photovoltaics. Energy from sunlight.

The sun also makes its contribution.
With modern photovoltaic systems, we generate clean energy directly from sunlight – for our daily electricity needs in the hotel business.
In this way, we use what nature gives us: light, warmth and strength.

  • Greywater. And exhaust air.

Through innovative systems, we recover heat from grey water and exhaust air and return it to our energy cycle.
So nothing is lost: every resource counts.

  • Architecture. Design. And nature.

Both in construction and design, we use regional materials from the nature of the Gastein Valley – wood, stone, metal, glass, leather, linen and wool.

Linen-covered walls give the rooms peace.
Wool and leather provide security – noticeable in every detail.

Stone pine wood characterises our spa area, oak wood our furniture and the fine wooden floors, which tell of permanence.
And old barn wood gives our rooms character – newly processed and lovingly integrated, it has found its place here again.

Wood also characterises our facades and creates an atmosphere of warmth and naturalness.
And the large glass fronts in DAS.GOLDBERG give a clear view – of the beauty of the nature of the Gastein Valley.

Metal sets accents – designed by artists, for example in stairwells or on exterior walls – as a silent contrast and a deliberately placed design element.

For our unique Gold.Stollen – a tepidarium for quick deceleration – 420 tons of stone from the central massif of the Hohe Tauern were used.
A piece of nature that gives strength and grounding.

Decorations from nature – with moss, wood and fresh flowers – bring the seasons into the house and round off our concept.

In everything we do, we focus on sustainable interior design and on manufacturers from the region who lovingly and skillfully produce fine furniture for DAS.GOLDBERG.
This creates an ambience that is honest. Authentic.
And a visible contribution to sustainable building – in harmony with nature.

  • GREEN SPA. AND NATURAL COSMETICS.

    Relaxation can also be sustainable.
In our Green Spa, nature takes centre stage – in every fragrance, in every touch, in every moment of peace.

We exclusively use natural cosmetic products that are in harmony with the environment – gentle, effective and pure.
Our partner Team Dr. Joseph shares our philosophy: with alpine plant power, sustainable production and deep respect for nature.

Our packs and treatments with Salzburg moor, hay and golden algae are particularly popular – powerful active ingredients from the mountains that purify, soothe and revitalise.
Fine salt from Austria forms the basis for our invigorating peelings, while the golden algae provides an extra dose of care and regeneration.
Herbal oils from local plants complement our treatments – natural, fragrant and soothing.

We use the power of nature – for relaxation that goes deeper.
For beauty that comes from within.
And driven by the idea that well-being can only arise in harmony with nature.

In this way, we combine the power of the Alps – and the lightness of being – in the wellness hotel in the Salzburg region.

  • Room cosmetics. And Amenities.

We deliberately avoid small plastic packaging units and rely on refillable bottles with high-quality care series made from sustainable natural cosmetics.
Small items such as cotton swabs, make-up remover pads or shower caps are provided in biodegradable packaging made from corn starch.

Particularly lovely: Our bath salts are homemade – with alpine herbs and flowers from the region, filled into small, reusable jars.

We also think sustainably about flip-flops:
Since they show hardly any wear after a few days, they are cleaned, disinfected and repackaged in fine linen sacks.
In this way, we avoid unnecessary waste – and give things a second life.

A small contribution with a big impact – in the sustainable hotel in the Salzburg region, where mindfulness extends to every detail.

  • E-charging stations for E-CARS.

Those who travel electrically should do so with ease.
That is why there are two e-charging stations with two charging points each on our premises.
Operated by our partner MOON Power, they offer modern charging with maximum energy efficiency.

This allows our guests to conveniently charge their electric car directly at the hotel – safely, quickly and in a climate-friendly manner.
A service that proves that sustainability and comfort go hand in hand.

Because conscious mobility begins where energy is used sensibly – in the hotel with e-charging station in Austria, which is moving the future.

  • E-fleet. And sustainable mobility.

Discovering the Gastein Valley quietly is an experience in itself.
With our hotel’s own e-fleet, we offer guests the opportunity to explore the nature in an environmentally friendly way – on two or four wheels.

E-bikes from Rotwild, e-scooters from CAKE and an Audi e-tron are available, charged and ready to go for anyone who wants to break new ground.
This turns locomotion into a conscious experience – emission-free, noiseless and in harmony with the environment.

Because every car less on the road is a win for our mountains.
And for us, sustainable mobility means feeling freedom – without leaving any traces.

  • SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL.

    Sustainability begins with the journey.
That is why we promote climate-friendly travel – in line with the Salzburg region, which actively strengthens public transport.

All our guests receive free tickets for the use of public transport in the Salzburg region – for arrival, excursions and discoveries on site.
With the mobility card, which we are happy to send out before arrival, sustainable travel is particularly easy.

Those who arrive by train travel consciously – relaxed, stress-free and environmentally friendly.
We pick up our guests free of charge from Bad Hofgastein train station and take them directly to DAS.GOLDBERG.

We also focus on gentle mobility on site:
Our hotel’s own shuttle runs several times a day to the bus station in Bad Hofgastein – and back again.
In addition, the Salzburg Land Ticket allows free use of all public transport during the entire stay.

This makes it easy to discover the Gastein Valley comfortably, sustainably and with light luggage –
in the spirit of a holiday that creates freedom and avoids leaving traces.

  • EMPLOYEE MOBILITY. AND TRANSFERS.

    Sustainability is teamwork.
That is why we also pay attention to conscious interaction on our daily journeys – and to mobility that connects instead of burdens.

In order to avoid unnecessary journeys, we organise employee transfers from collection points in the valley or directly from our employee house.
This allows us to bundle routes, and every individual makes a contribution to relieving the burden on the environment and traffic.

In addition, we provide e-scooters and e-bikes that can be used flexibly – for the way to work or small errands in the valley.
    Quiet, emission-free and practical.

This is how sustainability becomes tangible in everyday life –
through consideration, community and small decisions that together make a big difference.

  • DIGITAL SOLUTIONS.

Sustainability is also reflected in our processes – in every hand movement, in every decision.
That is why we at DAS.GOLDBERG rely on digital solutions that conserve resources and simplify processes.

We already largely avoid paper in our kitchen.
From the POS system to recipe management, everything runs digitally – orders and processes are displayed on displays, efficiently and paperless.
According to our guiding principle: “Think before you print.”

This idea also applies to service.
Paper receipts are only issued on request, otherwise they are digitally archived and confirmed with an electronic signature – safely, quickly and in a way that conserves resources.

We work almost paperless in administration.
With digital accounting and modern filing systems, invoices are recorded, checked and processed directly – without printing, entirely in the spirit of a sustainable hotel business.

A digital information system is available for our guests – with local experiences, current events and offers.
This keeps everything transparent, up-to-date and environmentally friendly.

Our team also benefits from modern structures:
We share information, processes and knowledge digitally via the internal Hotelkit system – efficiently, bindingly and paperless.

This creates a connection between technology and mindfulness,
which shows: Digitalisation can be sustainable – if you use it consciously.

  • WASTE. AND RECYCLING.

We attach great importance to conscious waste separation throughout the house and to recycling systems that return materials to the cycle.
From the kitchen to the rooms to the administration, recyclables are carefully separated, collected and recycled.

We also pay attention to sustainability when it comes to packaging.
Wherever possible, we avoid disposable packaging and prefer suppliers from the region who use environmentally friendly or reusable systems.
Many of our products reach us in reusable containers or deposit cartons – plastic-free, resource-saving and traceable in the cycle.

We avoid waste at the source – through conscious purchasing, digital processes and the use of reusable systems.
What remains is disposed of professionally – in trust of regional partners who think just as sustainably as we do.

This creates a cycle in which every step counts.
A system that conserves resources, reduces emissions and makes mindfulness a matter of course.

  • CLEANING. And CARE.

We rely on environmentally friendly cleaning systems in all areas – in the rooms, in the spa and in the public areas.

Together with our partner Hagleitner – an Austrian company that stands for innovation, quality and lived sustainability – we ensure cleanliness with responsibility.
All cleaning products are certified, resource-saving and biodegradable.
Modern dosing systems guarantee precise application and prevent the overconsumption of water and cleaning agents.

In this way, we combine hygiene and mindfulness, efficiency and environmental awareness –
for a well-kept environment in which people and nature feel equally at home.

  • Laundry. And textiles.

We also pay attention to sustainable processes in laundry care.
Our bed linen and towels are made of high-quality, durable materials and are cleaned in cooperation with environmentally conscious laundries.

As standard, our guests sleep in feather and down beds, which ensure maximum comfort and a natural sleeping experience.
Of course, we offer allergy-friendly beds and alternative filling materials on request – for restful nights that take every need into account.

In order to save water, energy and detergent, we offer our guests a change of laundry on request.
So they decide for themselves when towels or bed linen should be renewed.
A small detail with a big impact – for a more conscious use of resources.

Because real sustainability is reflected in the many small decisions
that together make a big difference.

  • Digital control of light. And heating.

Even small adjustments can make a big difference.
That is why we at DAS.GOLDBERG rely on digital systems for controlling light, heating and room temperature – for energy efficiency, comfort and mindfulness in everyday life.

Intelligent sensors and time switch programs ensure that lighting and heating are only activated when they are actually needed.
In this way, we avoid unnecessary energy consumption and at the same time create a comfortable indoor climate – individually tailored to the time of day and use.

This technology combines comfort and sustainability:
Gentle light, soothing warmth and a good feeling of acting consciously.

  • Employees. And social responsibility.

For us, sustainability also means taking responsibility for people.
Because only those who pay attention to each other can grow together.

We create jobs with prospects, promote regional talents, and train apprentices in various fields – with the aim of passing on enthusiasm for hospitality and mindfulness.
In addition, we support the compatibility of work and family life through flexible working hours and fair structures.

Respectful interaction, appreciation, and trust characterize our daily interactions.
Because sustainability does not end with resources – it begins with the people who fill it with life.

  • Drinking water. And natural habitat.

We deliberately leave part of our site in its natural state –
as a habitat for bees, butterflies, and native plants.

Our flower beds bloom in vibrant colors, providing food and shelter for countless insects –
and at the same time bring vibrancy to the landscape.

Our own drinking water source and the natural bathing lake also follow this principle.
Completely without chemicals, naturally purified and in balance with their environment.

CONCLUSION. Living responsibility. Shaping the future.

We think in cycles.
In resources that renew themselves.
In paths that become shorter.
And in moments that remain.

Because those who want to preserve the big picture start with the small things – with respect, awareness, and heart.

For us.
For our guests.
For our region.
And for a future that is worth its weight in gold.
