Ö3 GASTEIN SOUNDS 2026: Pizzera & Jaus, folkshilfe, and Paul Kalkbrenner in Bad Hofgastein

Following the successful premiere with around 10,000 visitors last year, the Ö3 GASTEIN SOUNDS 2026 return to Bad Hofgastein. On December 11 and 12, 2026 the open-air Winter Opening at the Schlossalmbahn valley station combines winter sports with live music, ushering in the start of the winter season.

Friday focuses on Austrian music. Pizzera & Jaus return to Bad Hofgastein after their sold-out 2025 summer open-air at the Alpenarena, sharing the stage with folkshilfe. While Pizzera & Jaus present their unmistakable songs, folkshilfe combines the Styrian harmonica, guitar, and drums with modern synthesizer sounds. The opening act is KARL, featuring a mix of modern Austropop, indie guitars, and Viennese charm.

On Saturday, the musical focus shifts to electronic music: Paul Kalkbrenner brings international techno sounds to Bad Hofgastein. The Berlin-based musician and producer performs his live sets at festivals and in arenas worldwide and became known far beyond the techno scene with songs like “Sky and Sand,” “Feed Your Head,” and “No Goodbye.”

The Schlossalmbahn valley station in Bad Hofgastein provides the backdrop for the Winter Opening on both evenings. In this way, the Ö3 GASTEIN SOUNDS build on the connection between skiing and music, setting a musical highlight in the Gastein Valley right at the start of the winter season.
