adidas INFINITE TRAILS 2026: International trail-running event in the Gastein Valley

From September 4 to 6, 2026, the mountains of the Gastein Valley will once again be all about trail running. At adidas INFINITE TRAILS, 1,600 participants from 54 nations come together—from trail-running beginners to experienced ultra runners. The strong interest is already evident in advance: the 2026 starting places sold out within just five days.

On September 5, the starting signal will be given for various solo distances and the team competition. A special highlight is the 60K ultra distance with a total of 5,200 metres of elevation gain. The route leads over three well-known Gastein peaks: Gamskarkogel, Graukogel and Stubnerkogel. In the team competition, three runners complete 100 kilometres and 7,700 metres of elevation gain together. In addition, solo races over 15K, 30K and 45K are available.

Internationally renowned athletes will also be on the starting line in Gastein in 2026. These include Austrian runner Andreas Vojta and British trail runner Deo Kato, who ran from Cape Town to London in 518 days in 2024. In addition to Austria and Germany, particularly large numbers of participants come from Denmark, France, the Czech Republic, Great Britain and the Netherlands.

The trail-running event is also an experience for spectators. The start and finish are located in the Alpenarena in Bad Hofgastein, while the race can be followed from various points in the valley and in the mountains. With the Gastein mountain lifts, spectator spots on the Stubnerkogel and on the Schlossalm are accessible, among others; the Graukogel also offers a special view of the race action.

After the sporting part, the community takes centre stage. Alpentherme Gastein becomes the “Athletes’ Garden” with sauna, whirlpool, swimming lake, ice bath and physiotherapy. In the evening, finishers and helpers come together at a big pool party. Around 350 volunteer helpers from the region contribute to the special “celebrate the sport” atmosphere of adidas INFINITE TRAILS throughout the entire event.

With a giving-back initiative, the event also sends a message in support of nature in the Gastein Valley. For 2026, a total of 501 new trees were funded for reforestation of damaged woodland areas through 428 donations. Since the initiative began in 2022, a total of €9,000 has been raised for this purpose.   Image copyright: Stefan Schaaf / adidas INFINITE TRAILS 2024 To the press article on gastein.com
