Not every winter day begins with skis. Sometimes it is enough to open the door, take a deep breath, and start walking. In the nature and design hotel DAS.GOLDBERG, winter hiking begins where comfort and nature meet: directly in front of the hotel. The first winter walks lead away from the hotel towards Bad Hofgastein and into the snow-covered landscape. Without preparation, without a plan, simply step by step.
The snow dampens noises, the air is clear and cool, the breath deep. Winter hiking in the Gastein Valley feels like a conscious deep breath, a deceleration that cannot be forced. The paths around Bad Hofgastein are well-maintained and signposted, leading through forests, along the Gasteiner Ache, and to viewpoints overlooking the Hohe Tauern. Particularly popular in winter are the Achenpromenade Badbruck in Bad Hofgastein, the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Promenade, and the Erzherzog-Johann-Promenade. All routes are easily accessible and suitable for walks lasting from one to several hours. Those who want to experience a little more will find other routes in the region: the longer circular hike across the villages, the Angertal winter path, or the Panoramaweg Schlossalm, which offers sunny views over the valley.
Some of our guests consciously combine winter hiking with other winter experiences. A short walk in the morning, a longer round in the afternoon, a path that ends where you can also find a cozy stop. Sturdy shoes are sufficient. Winter takes care of the rest. Back at the hotel, the feeling changes only slowly. The cold stays outside, the movement lingers. Hands become warm, the body calm. A tea. A place by the window. Later, perhaps relaxation in Nature’s Nest. Winter hiking needs no conclusion. It accompanies the day. A winter vacation in the wellness hotel DAS.GOLDBERG does not have to be full to be rich. Winter hiking shows how little it takes to experience winter in the Gastein Valley intensely. A path. Time. And the courage to start right away.
