Thirteen years ago today, on July 19, 2013, DAS.GOLDBERG opened its doors. For us, a wonderful occasion to look back. The story of our house does not begin with the hotel opening, but reaches back more than 120 years. As early as 1905, Pyrkerhöhe was first mentioned in records. At that time, the farm with its attached inn served as a popular meeting place for spa guests and summer visitors. The location high above the Gastein Valley captivated even then with its expanse, tranquility and impressive views of the surrounding mountains. Qualities that distinguish this special place to this day.
A new chapter began in 1981, when Peter and Katharina Seer took over Pyrkerhöhe. With great courage, hard work and entrepreneurial vision, they renovated the establishment and expanded it with guest rooms. The traditional inn became a family-run hotel – carried by a host family whose roots lie deep in the mountains of Salzburg.
In 1998, Vera and Georg Seer took over the establishment. Both grew up in family-run hotels and knew from an early age what genuine hospitality means. At the same time, a vision emerged: to reimagine this special place and create a hotel that reflects the beauty of nature, offers modern comfort and, above all, gives its guests one thing – time.
The name of our hotel also tells a piece of regional history. The Gastein Valley was shaped by gold mining for many centuries. This heritage lives on in the name DAS.GOLDBERG. For us, however, gold does not stand for material value, but for those precious moments that make a holiday unforgettable: time for yourself, shared experiences and the feeling of having arrived.
Since opening, DAS.GOLDBERG has continuously evolved. The Nature’s Nest Spa with its 22-meter infinity pool, natural bathing lake and unique Gold.Stollen now invites guests to relax. In the kitchen, regionality and craftsmanship take center stage – with fresh bread from the in-house bakery, coffee from our own roastery, and numerous products from our own garden and regional producers. At the same time, sustainability is consistently practiced – from energy generation through geothermal power to the conscious use of natural resources.
With the award as a 5-star hotel in 2025, this path was officially confirmed. Much more important than stars or awards, however, is what has defined DAS.GOLDBERG since day one: people with passion, genuine hospitality and the joy of creating special holiday moments.
Every guest, every encounter and every shared memory is part of our story. A story that began many years ago, opened a new chapter 13 years ago and continues to be written every day. For this we would like to say thank you – and we look forward to many more years together at DAS.GOLDBERG, your 5-star wellness hotel in Bad Hofgastein.
