Autumn in Gastein: events between tradition, trail running, culture and yoga
In autumn 2026, the Gastein Valley shows its particularly diverse side. From mid-August to the end of October, numerous events combine regional traditions and cuisine with international sport, music, health, female empowerment and yoga.
The traditional framework is provided by the Salzburger Bauernherbst, with around 50 events in the Gastein Valley. Alpine pasture breakfasts, farmers’ markets, culinary hikes, mountain masses and concerts put farming culture and regional products centre stage. Highlights include the Böckstein Sword Dance on September 6, the sheep drive in Nassfeld on September 12, and the grand Harvest Thanksgiving parade in Bad Hofgastein on September 27.
Things get sporty from September 4 to 6 at adidas INFINITE TRAILS. 1,600 trail runners from 54 nations will be out on the mountains and in the villages of the Gastein Valley. Spectators can follow the international trail running event, among other places, in the Alpenarena Bad Hofgastein, in the historic centre of Bad Gastein, and on Stubnerkogel, Schlossalm and Graukogel.
Music and culture also accompany Gastein’s autumn. Classical music continues with chamber concerts through to the end of October. From October 7 to 11, the quintet takes centre stage at Sägewerk JAZZHERBST “TAKE 5”—with international artists and a blend of jazz, Brazilian music and improvisation.
At the end of September, Bad Hofgastein becomes a meeting place for European health policy at the European Health Forum Gastein. A few weeks later, the Austrian Health Forum Gastein follows, focusing on eHealth and prevention. In between, the HER·izon Women Summit brings topics such as female leadership, female finance, health, longevity, artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship to Bad Gastein from October 8 to 11.
The finale is one of the special highlights of Gastein’s autumn: from October 16 to 26, 2026, Yoga Autumn brings together eleven days of yoga, mindfulness and regeneration. International teachers offer different yoga styles in yoga hotels and at special places in nature—from Sportgastein and the waterfall to Schlossalm and Fulseck, right through to aqua yoga at the Felsentherme. Sound healing, yoga and ice bathing, Pilates for yogis, and a full-moon ritual with a cacao ceremony round off the programme.
In this way, Gastein’s Event Autumn 2026 combines Alpine traditions with contemporary events, making Bad Hofgastein, Bad Gastein and Dorfgastein a meeting place for sport, culture, health and mindful time out. To the press article on gastein.com
