From Gold to Happiness – a Family-Run Hotel
Our name is no coincidence. It is a homage to the past of the Gastein Valley – to the time of gold mining, which once shaped entire generations. The region was famous for its gold deposits, for its splendor, for its pioneering spirit. We carry this heritage forward: in our name, in our philosophy, in our actions.
On the former gold diggers’ paths, our hotel was built – a place where wellness, nature, and design meet. What once brought treasures from the innermost parts of the mountains now brings relaxation and inner peace: clear mountain air, soothing thermal water, alpine tranquility.
The idea behind DAS.GOLDBERG emerged from a family bond that could hardly be closer. In 1981, Katharina and Peter Seer took over the farm. Coming from the neighboring Großarl Valley and with limited means, they saw their future in the Pyrkerhöhe. With great dedication, they renovated the property and created a family-run guesthouse with 24 rooms – a heartfelt project in the midst of nature.🌳
From 1997, son Georg Seer and his wife Vera took the helm. Their dream: not just to run a hotel, but to create something entirely new. From the desire to create a place that gives freedom. For the self. For nature. For genuine experiences. A place that combines tradition and design, closeness to nature and modern comfort. After ten years full of planning, vision, and perseverance, they could finally expand – and took the big step.👣
2012 the old building was demolished. And already on July 19, 2013, DAS.GOLDBERG opened its doors: a place that breathes history but looks to the future.
